Island Hall is home to Grace Vane Percy, her husband and young family. Her father Christopher Vane Percy was responsible for bringing the family back to the house, whose ancestors have lived here for eight generations in this finely proportioned, intimate, Georgian family house.
The serene setting enfolded by The River Great Ouse is perhaps the biggest surprise. Island Hall is set in the heart of bustling Godmanchester, but stepping through the lovingly restored Georgian grandeur of the 18th Century Mansion; you will be wowed as you enter the secluded privacy of the gardens.

There it is, the beautiful old river, silvery waters curling through and around the gardens with their towering trees, home to resident herons, owls and blue flashed kingfishers. The river embraces The Island which gives the house its name. Uniquely the river offers a secret way of arriving, if you choose an exclusive chauffeured hired boat to bring guests along the river and step out by the 18th century style Chinese Bridge.
Particularly magnificent for entertaining is the excellent red 1st floor salon with its pretty highly decorated landing just outside and gigantic chandelier. The spacious stone flagged entrance hall with a capacity for 48 guests seated for a privately catered meal has imposing doorways with elaborate carefully restored architraves, a large open fire and a grand carved oak staircase. Up to 220 guests can be accommodated within a marquee on the secluded Island.
Other lavish rooms include a dining room and drawing room both of which feature exceptional restored wood panelling and cornicing, original to the building of the house.
Essentially wheelchair access is possible, but not optimal.
The garden & ground floor of the house are accessible, the garden can be accessed via our courtyard and side entrance and we have a disabled access ramp to the rear of the property. Though there is gravel as well as grass so the amount of garden which can be enjoyed depends on the type of wheelchair. Our Ladies loo (which is on the ground floor) has plenty of space and a grab rail.
